In 1952, BREITLING designed a revolutionary watch for the influential AOPA (Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association), which included a chronograph and a flight computer of the type
type E6B flight computer that would enable members to perform all the calculations required in flight: Average speed, fuel consumption, distance, conversion of kilometres to miles. These sophisticated functions were made possible by a logarithmic slide rule built into a rotating bezel.
